A welcome from immediate past president David Aspinall

Dear visitor,

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the website of The Weald of Kent Art Society, fondly known as WoKAS.  The Society was formed over 50 years ago.  During that time it has been run successfully by various committees and has always been held in high esteem by the local community.

If you are visiting this website as a non-member, please take time to have a look around.  I hope you will like what you see and may be tempted to join us.  As a member you will be eligible for discounts on Art Materials and Framing at nominated outlets in the local area, but much more importantly than that you will be joining a Society of like-minded enthusiasts.  We believe that the Society belongs to its members.  As such it is always evolving.

Allow me to tell you something about the Society.  Our aim is to bring together artists of all levels, from enthusiastic amateurs through to experienced Professionals, and to encourage a love of the fine arts in all.

We run regular Thursday evening and daytime meetings when members have the opportunity work and socialise with each other and to see various Professional artists demonstrate their styles and techniques. At the demonstration evenings we have our own camera/projection system enabling everyone to see the demonstration in close up.

We also run workshops where members can receive advice and guidance on how to progress their work.  In the summer we organise painting days out in the local area.

Every year in Tenterden WOKAS holds two exhibitions of members work.  Currently these are held in the Spring and Late Summer. Members can enter a selection of work to be exhibited for sale. The Exhibitions are well publicised in the local media and in publications like The Artist and Leisure Painter magazines; they have always been popular and well supported.

As you can see The Weald of Kent Art Society is a dynamic and exciting organisation.

Many of us are proud to have had a very happy and long association with The Weald of Kent Art Society, and hope to continue to do so for many years to come.

I hope we will have your support, and perhaps you will even join us.

Yours Sincerely

David Aspinall

Immediate Past President
