What's On

Welcome to WoKAS

The Weald of Kent Art Society is a fun, vibrant and friendly group of enthusiasts of all ages and artistic levels.
We embrace art in all its forms and have demonstrations and talks, members' painting sessions and painting days out, as well as exhibitions - the most recent being the online 2020 summer Art Unlocked exhibition
This website is where members can share some of their art and provides information about current and future events.
Non-members are very welcome to browse this website to find out more about the society and its artists.
We hope you like what you see and are tempted to join us via the membership page.
'Art Unlocked' exhibition 2020
Held late summer 2020

2020 saw the complete WoKAS summer exhibition online

WoKAS members displayed over 100 works of art that can still be seen online

So pour a glass of your favourite drink, settle down on your sofa and enjoy the retrospective of our exhibition from the comfort of your home.

An opportunity to get involved

At the AGM the issue of finding a replacement Treasurer for Pat Lock was discussed. Pat wishes to take a less active role after many years of much appreciated service.

A replacement has no yet come forward to take on this important, but not too onerous, role.  This is a wonderful chance to get more involved so, please consider if it's something you could do.

Contact us if you think you can help.

Painting Workout 2020

During the isolated summer we ran several painting workouts where members had two weeks to produce a piece of art to a specific theme ranging from 'Gardens' to 'Self portraits' to 'Abstract'.

There was a fantastic response with over 90 pictures across the 8 challenges that may all be seen from the Painting Workout 2020 page.

Winter Exhibition December 2019

This was our last exhibition at Zion Baptist Church, but by no means the least.

The variety and quality of works on display was much appreciated by visitors. See more on the exhibition page, where you can also find photos of the exhibits and best picture voting results.

Clara Franke.jpg

The WoKAS Chairman's Prizes were awarded to students studying art at Cranbrook School - the standard of work was exceptional. It was very difficult to pick a winner but it was Clara Franke's huge and emotive drawing that just pipped the runners up to the post.

WoKAS Chairman featured in Kent Life Magazine

Our Chairman Clive Dand was featured in the October 2019 edition of Kent Life Magazine.  See news page for more...
