WOKAS painting workouts 2020/21 - the 'Challenges'


Throughout 2020 and 2021 when members were not able to meet in person due to Coronavirus restrictions regular ‘Painting Challenges’ have kept our members busy. With our members working to a specific theme for each challenge, an astounding number of diverse works of art were produced - all of these pictures can be seen online
 

WOKAS summer painting days 2021

We are now able to meet again in a group for painting en plein air. There is usually no need for members to register for these painting days – guests are also welcome. However, it is always a good idea to check that there have not been any last minute adjustments to the programme.

Tuesday 14 September 2021 – 10.30 – CHANGE TO PROGRAMME: Pett Level Road (Fairlight cliffs end). If approaching from Winchelsea Beach, park in layby on right approx. 200yds after Pett Level 30mph sign. Cut through to beach near the former Smugglers Inn and meet behind the Pett Level Rescue centre.

WOKAS winter programme 2021-22

Demos, talks and members’ painting sessions are free to all WOKAS members and we are happy to welcome guests for a fee of £5.

 

Our Saturday workshops cost £25 (£30 for non-members) and must be booked in advance.

DEMO Trevor Hartley – Acrylics

Our first evening demo is by Trevor Hartley who was originally due to visit us way back in Spring 2020! Trevor says, “I will be showing your group how you can create a fantastic landscape using minimal paints and everyday items. WORKSHOP Jo Hudson – Watercolours  (Please book)

Jo Hudson has many years of experience as both an artist and a tutor so will have much to share with us; you can take a look at her own work on her website at http://www.johudson.com   The theme of the workshop will be landscape; members with experience of watercolour may wish to bring their own landscape photo to work from, while those less confident can choose to work from the same photo as Jo (allowing them to follow her methods step by step). Please bring your own watercolour paints and paper.

TALK by Rowena McWilliams

WOKAS member Rowena McWilliams is now working full-time as an artist. Come and hear her talk about her working methods and how experimenting with new ideas has led to exciting developments this year. WORKSHOP Clive Dand – Life  (Please book)

Another opportunity to join one of Clive’s ever popular life drawing workshops. Most of us will be working in charcoal and pencil but you may choose another medium if you wish. Beginners and the more experienced will all benefit from the opportunity to work from a life model with valuable help and support from Clive on hand.

It is no exaggeration to say that Hash is our most popular demonstrator. His ability to produce a finished work of art in such a short time whilst simultaneously giving out valuable advice always amazes us. This time he has chosen to focus on interiors as his theme.
